Congratulations, and welcome to University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University Emergency Medicine!
We are so excited you’re here to learn more about our program and our city. As chief residents, it’s our privilege to represent a residency that not only trains exceptional emergency physicians, but also fosters a culture of support, curiosity, and growth.
Cleveland is one of those cities that always takes people by surprise. The food scene here is next-level — from neighborhood pizzerias to fine dining on the lake, the West Side Market, and a craft brewery seemingly on every corner. When you’re not eating your way through the city, you can explore the award-winning Cleveland Metroparks, kayak on Lake Erie, or catch a concert, comedy show, or Broadway performance at Playhouse Square — the country’s second largest theater district.
And of course, Cleveland loves its sports. Whether you’re cheering with us for the Guardians on a summer night, bundled up for a Browns game in the Dawg Pound, or watching the Cavs rise again, you’ll quickly feel the energy and pride that make this city so special.
At UH, we’re not just training to be outstanding resuscitationists and emergency physicians — we’re building a family. Our residents are supportive, fun, and driven, and our faculty are as committed to mentorship as they are to excellent patient care. You’ll find yourself surrounded by colleagues who push you to be your best while always having your back.
