University Hospitals Transplant Institute Team Ensures a High Rate of Surgical Success
The kidney transplant program at University Hospitals Transplant Institute is on the leading-edge of organ transplant. Along with superior surgical techniques, our academic medical center research continually advances the safety and success of transplant procedures.
When you’re approved for surgery, you’ll meet with a multidisciplinary team that includes the transplant surgeon, anesthesia team and nursing team. In order to provide excellent care for our transplant patients, we employ a multidisciplinary care approach before, during and after surgery. Evaluation typically includes a review of your medical history, a physical, labs and a chest x-ray.
Kidney transplantation at University Hospitals can happen at any time of day or night. While you’re on the waitlist for a transplant, it’s important to keep your transplant team updated of any big changes (blood clots, heart issues, infections, chronic wounds, etc.) to prevent issues and complications.
