Required and Elective Activities

Required Rotations (4 Week)  

  • Hospital Orientation/Staffing Orientation 
  • Cardiac ICU 
  • Cardiothoracic/Surgical ICU 
  • Trauma/Surgical ICU 
  • Medical ICU 1 and 2 
  • Neurosciences ICU 
  • Emergency Medicine 
  • Research Month 

Required Rotations (Longitudinal): 

  • Pharmacy Research (Yearlong research project and 6-month long MUE) 
  • Emergency Code Response (12 months) 
  • Critical Care Leadership (11 months) 
  • Inpatient Pharmacy Staffing (11 months; every 3rd weekend) 

Elective Rotations (any of the required ones plus below list):

  • Pediatric Critical Care (4 weeks) 
  • Solid organ transplant* (2 or 4 weeks) 
  • Bone Marrow Transplant* (2 or 4 weeks) 
  • Infectious diseases* (2 or 4 weeks) 
  • Medical Toxicology (2 or 4 weeks) 

*with focus on critically ill patients  

Additional Required Activities: 

  • Present abstract and results at a Pharmacy conference 
  • Presentation at Pharmacy Grand Rounds 
  • Journal club(s) 
  • Monthly topic/case-based presentations 
  • Teaching activities 
  • Prepare a manuscript suitable for publication 
  • Lead Resident Opportunity
