PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at UH Rainbow Babies & Children's
Graduation Requirements
In order to obtain a certificate from the program, the following must be completed by the end of your residency year:
Required Sign-Offs (General)
- Licensed pharmacist in the state of Ohio within required timeframe
- Complete Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Training
- Greater than 80% of goals and objectives achieved for residency (ACHR)
- 0% Needs Improvement at the time of graduation
- 100% R1 Patient Care ACHR
- Precept and evaluate at least one pharmacy student on APPE rotation or PGY1 resident
- Complete 1 new pediatric drug monograph OR update 2 adult drug monographs with pediatric information and present at MS&T
- Upload signed residency certificate to PharmAcademic
Required Sign-Offs (Rotation Specific)
Staffing – Longitudinal Deliverables
- Completion of staffing checklist
- Completion of at least 12 weekends staffed
Research Longitudinal – MUE Deliverables
- Complete Medication Use Evaluation (MUE)
- Present a poster at a national meeting
- Present MUE locally at appropriate hospital meeting
Research Longitudinal – Major Project Deliverable
- Research project completed
- Research project presented at a national meeting
- Research project manuscript final draft due 6/1
- Journal Club 1
Didactic Requirements – Longitudinal
- Journal Club 2
- Case Presentation (Formal)
- Case Report (informal, interactive)
- Seminar
- Leadership Presentation
- Grand Rounds
- Newsletter article
General Pediatrics
Create written education for patient and/or parent concerning discharge medications. Alternatively, create written education for nurses, pharmacy or medical residents, or pharmacists
Management
Utilizing feedback from the pharmacy staff members, identify one workflow improvement project within the department. Develop a protocol, guideline, etc. to implement the workflow improvement
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Design an article on a clinical pearl related to the PICU for the pharmacy department’s newsletter
