Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Program
University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, a nationally recognized medical research and education institution, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University, offers the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program for the next generation of physicians, scientists and leaders who are committed to clinical excellence, service and the privilege of patient care.
ACGME Accredited Program Offers Research in Cardiovascular Medicine Training
This three-year accredited Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) program provides an additional fourth (and potentially fifth) year to increase opportunities for and productivity in research. The program is committed to the additional years of training for fellows at the time they are accepted; this allows fellows to explore opportunities to build upon the research components of the three-year ACGME program and to develop the foundation necessary for becoming a successful physician-scientist.
The overall goal of the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program is to train highly competent clinical cardiologists, who by the time of program completion, are capable of independent practice (i.e., provide state-of-the-art evidence-based prevention, evaluation, management for both inpatients and outpatients with a wide variety of cardiovascular disorders) and prepared for a transition to a productive academic career.
Statement on Virtual Interviews
Interviews for our Cardiology Fellowship will be 100% virtual this year. We believe strongly that virtual interviews are important - leveling the playing field for applicants who may lack resources for increasingly expensive travel, and avoids adding to the student debt burden. We also believe that travel contributes to greenhouse gases and global warming, and cutting down on travel is an environmental issue. We fully support the guidelines put out this year by the AAMC.
