Diabetes Education Program

Our program offers a person-centered approach that is nationally recognized by the American Diabetes Association. The knowledgeable diabetes care and education specialist team at our UH Diabetes & Metabolic Care Center is ready to partner with you to bridge knowledge gaps and create a treatment plant that is tailored to your lifestyle and preferences.

By centering diabetes education and support services around problem-solving, reducing risks, monitoring, taking medication, healthy eating, healthy coping, and being active, the UH Diabetes Education Program helps people with diabetes to live long and healthy lives.

Diabetes Education Class Series

Our interactive group classes create a supportive environment where participants learn and share strategies for living with diabetes. Topics include healthy coping, daily self-management, and problem-solving.

The series includes four sessions, each 1.5 hours, held every other month on Tuesdays with evening hours available.

Getting accurate information and having access to quality resources can be challenging. Since 2002, the UH Diabetes Education Program has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association, ensuring high-quality, comprehensive care that meets national standards.

Through a collaborative approach between you and our skilled diabetes care and education team, participants are empowered to confidently manage their diabetes and improve their daily self-care.


Easily Accessible Locations

Our convenient locations allow community members to have all education needs met in one location Private consultation rooms are available for one-on-one sessions with a diabetes care and education specialist nurse and a registered dietitian.

Many locations also feature classrooms for group sessions, accommodating classes of all sizes. Participants are welcome to bring one support person to join them.
