Our Fellows

Our fellows have the vast opportunity to develop as clinicians, researchers, and educators. Through their service time, they gain clinical exposure to a multitude of diagnoses as well as an opportunity to think critically and interact with a diverse group of subspecialists. They develop skills in central line placement, intubation, ventilator management, and extracorporeal support. Additionally, they have weekly protected time to attend their fellow education series, which focuses on board-specific content using an interactive framework, as well as journal club, quality improvement and M&M. Our fellows become competent and credentialed to care for patients in our nationally recognized sedation unit.

Under direct mentorship, they have the opportunity to blossom as researchers in their area of interest. Our current group of fellows is conducting research in epidemiologic study, procedural sedation, healthcare disparities, infectious disease, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and medical education. Past graduates have completed highly successful research in basic science, translation science, clinical research, quality assurance, respiratory failure physiology, cellular mechanisms of heart failure and others.  It is highly encouraged that the Fellow completes a research project in an area of significant personal interest to them that they can then carry forward after Fellowship training if they so choose.
