Biography
Aamir Hussain, MD is a board-certified neurologist with subspecialty certifications in neurology, neuromuscular nedicine, and electrodiagnostic medicine. He has extensive experience in academic and clinical neurology. He has served as a Consultant Neurologist across leading institutions including the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. He has been working as Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Hussain has deep interest in headache medicine and is treating complex headaches at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center located at Wade Park. He has worked with world renewed headache experts at Jefferson Headache Center, Jefferson Hospital for Neurosciences, Philadelphia, PA. During his work as a research assistant, he has learned about clinical research and treatment of complex headaches. Dr. Hussain is committed to innovation in the field of headaches and runs research projects to improve quality of life of patients with complex headache.
Dr. Hussain is actively involved in teaching, mentoring advancing clinical education and research including in person and remote teaching nationwide through VA ECHO. He takes pride to train residents. To highlight, some clinical procedural skills that he performs include nerve conduction/electromyography (EMG), Onabotulinum Toxin therapy, trigger point injections and nerve blocks. Dr. Hussain was awarded “The Best Preceptor” of the year from Lake Erie College of Medicine in 2023.
He uses specialized protocols to treat migraine and other complex headache disorders at Cleveland VA medical center. His approach to treat complex headache disorders not only involves medical treatment but also cutting-edge neuromodulation technology to make a difference.
To treat headaches requires a team-based approach and he closely works with sleep medicine, pain medicine, physical therapist, psychologist, and psychiatrist. He is an advocate of patient-centered neurological care that bridges cutting-edge science with compassionate practice.
