Sharon Van Nostran, DO, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained family medicine physician at University Hospitals. Dr. Van Nostran completed her undergraduate education at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She went on to complete her medical training at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio followed by a fellowship in academic medicine at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. After completing a residency in family medicine at Summa Health System Family Medicine Center in Akron, Ohio, Dr. Van Nostran remained with Summa, serving first as clinical faculty and then as osteopathic program director for the Summa family medicine residency program for over a decade.
A celebrated medical educator by peers and by patients, Dr. Van Nostran has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions over the years and was named a top doctor by Akron Life & Leisure magazine and Cleveland Magazine.

Sharon was very very positive and upbeat. Very friendly and explained everything to me. She called me back on SUNDAY to let me know the results of my test and let me know it was okay to move forward with the antibiotic. Super doctor!
Considering it was my first visit to a provider in many years it was a positive experience because of the care I received during my visit. I can only hope this will continue when I need to be seen in the future.

Dr Van Nostran is the greatest. I moved 45 minutes away from the office and I still have her as my pcp. I needed a checkup for an mri this appointment and she squeezed me in at the end of the day. She's the best!
