About
Sergio Thal, MD, is a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist and directs the Lead Management Program at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Thal earned his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. His postdoctoral training included residencies in internal medicine and cardiology, followed by a fellowship in cardiology, where he was named chief fellow, at Sanatorio Julio Mendez Hospital in Buenos Aires. He later completed a fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Thal is board certified in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. His special areas of expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, as well as cardiac device implants such as pacemakers, cardiac defibrillators, biventricular pacing devices and lead extractions.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Thal has authored clinical publications and presents at national professional meetings on topics related to therapeutic innovations and optimal care for patients with heart arrhythmias. He is also a member of distinguished organizations including the Argentine Society of Cardiology and Heart Rhythm Society.
