About

Omer N. Pamuk, MD, graduated from Istanbul University, Istanbul School of Medicine, in Turkey. He completed his internal medicine residency training at Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa School of Medicine, and his rheumatology fellowship training at Trakya University.

Dr. Pamuk gained laboratory research experience at Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Division of Rheumatology. Under the mentorship of Dr. George Tsokos, he explored the pathogenesis of multiple immune cell abnormalities in systemic lupus erythematosus. He took summer courses at the Harvard School of Public Health, including principles in clinical trials and measuring health outcomes.

Dr. Pamuk worked at an academic medical center in northwestern Turkey as a rheumatologist from 2005-2016. He completed a second rheumatology fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Pamuk has extensive experience in both clinical and laboratory research. He has authored many multicenter studies and published articles in journals such as Arthritis Care Research, Arthritis Research & Therapy, the Journal of Rheumatology, Clinical Rheumatology, Lupus and others. Dr. Pamuk’s research is focused on systemic lupus erythematosus.

At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
