About
Sami Moufawad, MD, earned his medical degree from Lebanese University in 1994 and completed a one-year surgical internship in 1995. After coming to the U.S., he completed a surgical internship at Washington Hospital Center (Washington, DC) in 1996 before completing a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in1999. Following his residency, Dr. Moufawad completed an interventional pain management fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in 2000.
After working in a private practice in Delaware for four years, Dr. Moufawad moved back to Cleveland and worked as staff at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Pain Management Center between 2004 and 2006. He then joined University Hospitals, where he established pain management programs at UH’s regional hospitals in Bedford and Richmond Heights, serving as Medical Director for pain management services between 2006 and 2022.
Dr. Moufawad’s areas of interest are work- and sports-related injuries, mainly spinal, musculoskeletal and painful neurological conditions, including neuropathies and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). He specializes in conservative treatment from acupuncture to more invasive treatment modalities, including a variety of spinal interventions such as radio frequency ablation and neuro augmentation with spinal cord stimulation.
Dr. Moufawad has published several papers related to pain management and has lectured at a number of national pain management conferences.

The doctor has been a good doctor I suffer from chronic pain, muscular weakness, and fibromyalgia. Plus my husband had a stroke in February and he feels better from the injections he received as well and we are both grateful for our support provided by the doctor.
The "Provider" did not care about my struggle with the injury or mental health. He told Me to STOP talking and *** did not allow Me to explain.
Dr. Moufawad is a very caring doctor and cares about his patients. The medicine he prescribes helps me continue working and maintain daily activities. I am grateful for the care I received and I even referred my husband who had a stroke because of my care and the doctors care of the patients and his pain injection after physical therapy methods failed me and did not work on any occasions. The doctor and his nurse are proactive with the care and concern of the patients from other patients who we have had a chance to communicate with during our visits. ***
Dr. Moufawad in my opinion is a very good doctor of pain management. I have seen him since *** for a condition of pain from a work related accident that is un curable. He has been there to help me as well as his staff through so much and more. I wouldn't consider seeing any other doctor for pain management. I feel comfortable and safe with his medical care for me. He has helped me to both control my horrific pain and has been able to help me to continue my daily mobility the best that is posable considering with both my dabilitating physical and pain and monitored pain medications.
Doctor moufawad is one of the best doctors I've ever had, certainly the best in pain mgmt.
