About
Sean A. Cupp, MD, serves as the lead medical physician for the Cleveland Browns. Dr. Cupp is Co-Director of Sports Medicine at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Department of Family Medicine, at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Originally from rural western Oklahoma, Dr. Cupp earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma before receiving his family medicine training at the University of Alabama Birmingham-Huntsville Family Practice residency in north Alabama. He returned home for his Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City and then joined a busy private orthopedic practice in Lawrence, Kansas.
Dr. Cupp has spent his entire career in athletic medicine. For the decade prior to arriving in Cleveland, he practiced medical sports medicine and non-surgical orthopedics in northeast Kansas while serving as the assistant head medical physician for the University of Kansas Jayhawks and the head team physician for Baker University Wildcats.
Dr. Cupp is a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians and an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the NFL Physicians Society. He continues to practice sports medicine with University Hospitals Orthopedics. His interests include musculoskeletal medicine, medical issues of the athlete, non-surgical joint preservation, sports ultrasound and ultrasound guided joint injections.
Dr. Cupp and his wife, Keri, have three children: Charlotte, Christian and Caleb.

Dr.Cupp is the best! His secretary messages you back via MyChart immediately which is amazing. She has been on top of getting my cortisone and visco approved for the new year. It's honestly better for me to be able to communicate in that way due to my work schedule and she was able to accommodate me with an appointment around my work schedule and the holidays which is a bonus especially with a specialist!

Dr Cupp is an excellent and caring doctor. The reason for the longer than 15 minutes wait was because emergency and he did explain that to me. I had no problem with the wait.
The Doctor was considerate of my time and even helped to find a good time for my next appointment. His use of ultrasound to place the injection needle makes for better results.
