About

Britt Conroy, MD is a board-certified family medicine physician at University Hospitals and an assistant professor of urology and family medicine & community health at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She is also board-certified in public health and general preventive medicine and has a particular clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of urological conditions in adults and children. Dr. Conroy also holds a law degree and is an adjunct law professor at Case Western Reserve University.

A highly trained family medicine physician, researcher, attorney and epidemiologist, Dr. Conroy possesses a unique combination of skills and always puts her patients first. Her primary focus is getting the right care for them, at the right time, and making sure that they feel empowered, genuinely and deeply cared for, and kept up to date on their health. With her unrelenting philosophy to provide high quality, compassionate patient-centered care, she not only has a positive impact on their health, she connects with them, and their loved ones as people. In fact, she is actively involved in community-based health services and public health research and advocacy, particularly with communities of color.

Dr. Conroy has also led new, innovative research endeavors at the UH Urology Institute. She provides oversight, development, implementation and analysis of basic, translational, epidemiologic, and clinical studies, as well as a new infrastructure that enables advances across academic fields.

Dr. Conroy was the first American Indian to graduate from the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. To uphold that great honor, she remains very involved as a leader across many Native groups. She is a member of many professional Native groups including the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), the American Indians in Science and Engineering Society (AISES) and the Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP) to name just a few. Over the course of her career, which has included working on high-level health policy, Dr. Conroy has developed tribal, federal, state and local health care system collaborative partnerships; skills in complex health and health care data collection and analysis; and community engagement and dissemination.

Dr. Conroy attended University of California, Riverside for her undergraduate education, earning first a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Science, followed by a Master of Science in Environmental Toxicology, Biomedical Science. She went on to earn a Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, followed by a PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Case Western Reserve University and a Medical Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She completed residencies in family medicine and preventive medicine, both at UH Cleveland Medical Center. She has also completed fellowships in urologic health, behavioral health and underserved community health.

Dr. Conroy doesn’t sleep much, but that doesn’t bother her since she loves being a physician and making a positive difference in the world. She is the proud mother of four young children (including twins) and enjoys spending time with her family doing outdoor activities.

This was my first appointment setting up primary care with Dr. Conroy. Before my visit, she had already read through my family history as well as the medical information that I linked to MetroHeatlh through the My chart app. I feel confident moving forward with Dr. Conroy as my primary doctor as in her words, "partners in my health". The staff at University Hospital has been restoring my faith in large medical care systems.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
